Teardown · Frank Body · 6 November 2026
A brand voice nobody else has, on a home page that takes 13.8 seconds to show its main image on a phone
frank body's store gets a lot right: an unmistakable voice, 'Shop by skin concern' for people who know their problem but not the product, kit savings shown up front, and a cart that tells you exactly how far you are from free shipping. The biggest leaks come early and late: the home page is very slow to show its main image on a phone, the product page buries the price and Add to Cart under a long description, and a shopper who's $24 short of free shipping isn't offered anything to close the gap. We reviewed the Australian store (frankbody.com, prices in AUD) as a first-time visitor on an iPhone-sized screen and a laptop on 6 November 2026, using the Three-Way Kit as the test product, and went as far as the checkout without entering any details.

What's already working
- The voice is consistent from the top bar to the cart ("Your cart's feeling light", "Indecisive babes who want to try them all"). It's a real asset, and most of the fixes below keep it.
- 'Shop by skin concern' (Barrier Repair, Acid: Acne + KP, Anti-Ageing…) meets shoppers where they start: with a problem, not a product name.
- Kit savings are shown as the regular price crossed out with the percentage off ("$60.00 → $36.00, -40%").
- The cart shows a progress bar to free shipping ("$24 away from free shipping") and offers Shop Pay, PayPal and Google Pay right under the checkout button.
- Checkout offers express payment, PayPal and Afterpay, and asks for a phone number with a reason ("In case we need to contact you about your order").
Fix these, in this order
01Speed · Half a day
Make the home page's main image appear in under 3 seconds on a phone
Google's mobile test measured 13.8 seconds before the largest element on the home page appeared, with an overall mobile score of 64. On a phone, that's a pink-brown screen with a heading and nothing to look at for most of a scroll session. Shoppers arriving from Instagram or TikTok are the least patient there are; many will leave before the hero shows.
The hero is a large image or video background. Give it a small, compressed poster image (WebP, under 150KB at phone width) that shows straight away, and only load the video after the page is interactive, or not at all on mobile. Make sure the hero isn't lazy-loaded. Then re-run Google's PageSpeed test on mobile: the 'Largest Contentful Paint' figure is the one to watch.02Product page · 1–2 hours
Move the price and Add to Cart above the long description on mobile
On a phone, the Three-Way Kit page goes photo, title, three benefit tags, then about 200 words of description and the kit contents, and only then the price ($36, down from $60) and Add to Cart. The best thing about this product, a 40% saving, is below the fold, and a shopper who's already convinced has to scroll past copy written for someone who isn't.
In the product template, move the price block and Add to Cart directly under the title and benefit tags. Keep the first two sentences of the description visible and put the rest behind a 'Read more' toggle, or move it into a 'The details' accordion like 'How to use me' and 'Ingredients'.03Product page · Half a day
Offer a way to close the gap to free shipping in the cart
With the Three-Way Kit in the cart, the progress bar says "$24 away from free shipping", and that's where it stops. The shopper now has to work out what to add, leave the cart to find it, and come back. Many will just pay for shipping, or leave.
Under the progress bar, show 2–3 products that would get them over the line, priced just above the gap (here, $24–$30), with one-tap Add buttons. Write it in the voice: "$24 to go. These get you there:". Most cart apps, and many themes, can do this; make sure it loads instantly, because a slow block here costs sales.04Product page · 1 hour
Show the star rating next to the title
The product page has a Reviews section, but it sits near the bottom of a very long page. We saw no star rating or review count near the title or the price, where a first-time buyer decides whether to trust a $36 kit.
Add the rating and count from your reviews app under the product title (most apps provide a small 'star badge' snippet for the theme), and make it link down to the Reviews section.05Product page · 30 minutes
Keep the floating video button off the product title
On a phone, the round video widget in the bottom-left corner sits on top of the product's eyebrow line and title as you scroll to them (in our screenshot it covers "HOLIDAY GIFTING"). It's small, but it covers the exact words that tell the shopper what they're looking at.
In the video widget's settings, move the bubble to the bottom right on mobile, shrink it, or hide it on product pages and show it only on the home page and collections.06Trust and checkout · 1 hour
Tell shoppers on the product page what free shipping means for this item
Next to the price it says "Shipping calculated at checkout.", and a separate line below Add to Cart says "Get Free Shipping on Orders Over $60". A shopper looking at a $36 kit has to do the maths and connect the two.
Replace both with one line under the price that does the maths for them: "Free shipping over $60. Add this and you're $24 away." If the theme can't calculate it, "Free shipping on orders over $60" alone is clearer than "Shipping calculated at checkout."07Trust and checkout · 30 minutes
Shrink the first-visit cookie dialog on phones
On a first visit from a phone, the Cookiebot dialog fills the screen with legal text and three large buttons before the shopper sees anything from frank body. On a laptop the same notice is a bar along the bottom.
In Cookiebot's banner settings, use the same bottom-banner layout on mobile that you use on desktop, so the hero and the top bar stay visible. Keep 'Deny' as easy to reach as 'Allow all', as it is now, and check any change with whoever advises you on privacy.

NowThree is always better than one. My Three-Way Kit has a scrub for every mood, because your skin deserves a wardrobe too. Pick your grind level: coarse, gentle, medium. …
Three scrubs, three grinds, 40% off: glycolic for bumps and KP, rosehip for gentle days, niacinamide for dull skin. Plus a silky scrunchie, because obviously.
Start with the product page layout and the cart add-on row: both are about getting a shopper who already wants the kit to a bigger, cheaper-to-ship order with less scrolling. The hero speed fix is the biggest single change for anyone landing on the home page from social. This is an independent review of frank body's public Australian store. We have no connection to frank body and haven't seen its analytics, so the likely impact of each fix is our judgement from common patterns, not a measured result.
